Seventeen Cosmetics | Rebrand Research - Advertising |

This week we've been looking at advertising something we all find super interesting so this has been a really fun week here at YorMedia! Today we're looking at advertisement when it comes to Seventeen Cosmetics and how they advertise!

So what type of advertising does Seventeen do?
When researching their advertisements we didn't find any video evidence however we did find some magazine style advertisements of products such as their phwoarr paint a heavy duty under eye concealer, a mascara and their tanning products.

The colours are very vibrant and eye catching which tends to be a theme with products aimed at a teenage audience.

During our research we also found two vintage posters from an American cosmetic company of the same name dating from the late 1940s, with cute illustrations and muted and dusky colours two aspects we have already been incorporating into our rebrand!

Do their advertisements inform, entertain, persuade and raise awareness of their brand, products and services?
The advertisements used by Seventeen set out to entertain the consumer especially in terms of the heavy duty under eye concealer phwoarr paint which uses both a pun and a play on words.
They also have a heavy focus on the imagery and rarely use text and relying on just their bright and vibrant images.

·       Do they use reason based advertisements (e.g. details of facts and figures)?
h   Following on from before as Seventeen rarely use text in their advertising they also don't use any reason based techniques, again as they tend to rely heavily on the images.

·       To what extent does the brand use advertising that enables involvement with prospective customers such as imagining using the product or service?
Their advertisements use teenage girls wearing the products thus appealing to their teenage audience and also showing how the products can and should be used. However, as the girl looks so young this could put off teenagers on the older end of the spectrum.

We're really looking forward to incorporating our research into our own advertisements!
