Inside the Walls - app design and logo!

Last week I started to design some possible icons for the app as it will appear on an iPhone home-screen. She created three different designs with the idea of presenting an accurate and fair image of York!

The first app design is a rotoscoped image of the city walls, with a small Yorkshire Rose, which is effective, as it visually displays that the app itself is catered to York, whilst also abiding by the app name ‘Inside the Walls’

Furthermore, our second app design features a larger scale image of the iconic rose, which is effective, as it will catch the eye of the consumer greatly, whilst also representing York itself.

Moreover, the third and final app design was created because the ‘daffodil’ flower is linked to the city walls. Also, the design is colourful and will draw in the consumer because of it.

As well as designing the app design we also decided to Photoshop two of them onto an iPhone layout to see how they appeared on the traditional, smartphone home-screen. It is clear that both of the chosen designs are appropriate for use on this type of device and fit in with the other existing apps. However, the large scale Yorkshire rose app design appears to be the most eye-catching out of the designs, which is something to take into account when deciding upon which app will be the final design.

Thank you for reading!
