Seventeen Cosmetics | Rebrand Research - Press Release |

When companies have new products or having a re-brand of some sort they tend to send out a press release to the mainstream media e.g. newspapers and magazine and people with a large social media following e.g. content creators on youtube.




Catherine and I (Vicki) each worked on two very different press releases, Catherine's took the formal approach focusing on the type of press release that would be sent to the mainstream media, whereas mine went for the informal approach focusing on what would be given to youtube content creators!


Taking a professional and detailed route Catherine based her press release template she found online to use as her starting point and a reference.

The press release informed the reader of the new changes to the brand as well as the reasons.
Font wise Catherine went for the simple and basic Arial, as it is a universally recognised font.
This press release also featured an address, contact details and the company logo and slogan in the top right corner.

For my informal and chatty press release I took to youtube and watched a couple of vlogs (video blogs) from content creator Brogan Tate, the press releases Brogan receives are very casual and address her as if she was a friend, something I knew I wanted to incorporate into my own press release!

The layout of the press release was very simple, featuring the brand's logo and slogan in the top left corner and featuring social media, a website, address and phone number at the bottom. 
The press release Brogan received from OGX Beauty was handwritten so for my font choice I downloaded the font Angelina for the main body and the font Jenna Sue for the love hearts, both from dafont.com.
Not only does Angelina look handwritten but also feminine, classic and clean and for an added touch the I matched the font colour to the brand logo and slogan!
