Seventeen Cosmetics | Rebrand Research - The Print Ad |

Following on from our research into print based advertisements we decided to do some mock ups of our own!

Our original idea was to use an illustration or image of a mirror with the word Cosmético placed through the middle as if someone had grabbed a lipstick and written the name across their bedroom or bathroom mirror.

However, we decided it would be best to use our celebrity endorsements as that tends to be a theme with many makeup companies who also use celebrities to advertise their company, but we decided to stick with the lipstick style font!

Following from our research on existing advertisements when we found the two vintage posters from the American cosmetic company of the same name dating from the late 1940s which featured the slogan

for that "natural" look men look for...

we wanted to go down a different route with a feminist perspective and the idea of female empowerment and wearing makeup for yourself not the opposite gender.

We then went on to create eight print advertisements to promote our rebrand of Seventeen Cosmetics!
Our main two advertisements featured all three of our celebrities, the first features the name of the brand through the middle of the print

and the second features the words
me and my girls

a lyric taken from the song of the same name by Selena Gomez, we chose this song as it's an empowering song about friendship and girls sticking together. We also decided to place the company logo in the top right corner so the consumer would know what brand is being advertised!

The rest our our prints advertisements featured each girl on her own.

Selena...

Maisie...

Amandla...

Again, we featured the logo in the top right corner on all six of the advertisements.
Each celebrity has two advertisements each, one with their name across the middle and the other with a feminist or girl power quote from the celebrity them self.

For the colour scheme we wanted a  muted pink blush colour which is becoming increasingly popular due to the release of realty star Kylie Jenner's lipstick range. We also liked the colour scheme in the vintage advertisements we saw, hence our decision to combine the two.
